A.S.D. Castelfranco Stella Rossa

Castelfranco Emilia is a town that lives off a delicious legend: they say it was there, at the Corona inn, that an innkeeper peeked through a keyhole at the navel of a beautiful guest, none other than Venus according to the more poetic version, and shaped pasta dough in its image, inventing the tortellino. The town even raised a bronze monument to it in Piazza Aldo Moro, and it sits right on the border between Modena and Bologna, along the Via Emilia, contested for centuries by the two rival cities. Local football follows the same neighbourhood vocation: Castelfranco Stella Rossa is a community club, its name evoking both Emilian working class tradition and the local parish, and today it plays in Modena's district categories. There is no grand honours list to show, only the ordinary devotion of a small Emilian town to its club, somewhere between the pasta factory and the football pitch.
