About the club

The history of Clube Desportivo Arrifanense began in 1921 with the creation of Aliança Football Club by a group of young men led by Manuel José Pereira, the club’s founder. The name came from Farmácia Aliança, the pharmacy Manuel José Pereira owned in the town of Arrifana.

Later, in 1929, under a new board, the club became known as Sporting Clube de Arrifana. It was during this period that the green and white colours became part of the club’s identity, influenced by that connection to Lisbon and Sporting CP.

In 1931, the club adopted the name Clube Desportivo Arrifanense, which it still carries today.

This history is fully registered and documented as part of the work the club has been developing for its centenary book, including newspaper clippings that confirm names, dates and key moments in the Arrifanense story.
