Club San Paolo 1999

The letters PGS before the name are the key to everything: Polisportiva Giovanile Salesiana, the large network of youth sports clubs founded by the Salesian priests of Don Bosco, present in hundreds of parishes across Italy, from football to futsal, volleyball to basketball, always with the same idea behind it, using sport to form children and teenagers within the parish community. Club San Paolo was born in 1999, headquartered on Via Rockefeller in Cagliari, and the crest shows a green four leaf clover, a symbol of luck and faith standing in for a more direct religious emblem. Like most PGS clubs, San Paolo runs several sports sections in parallel, with its futsal team competing in the sport's national Serie B, and it lives by the same logic that sustains thousands of Italian parishes: pitch, training, mass, repeat. This is neighbourhood football in the most literal sense of the word, the neighbourhood around the church of San Paolo, in Cagliari.
