Geylang International FC

Before Singapore had a professional league, it already had an owner: the Eagles of Geylang. Founded in 1973 as International Contract Specialists, an elite project dreamed up by Colin Ng, the club took its neighbourhood's name in 1975 and spent the next two decades collecting everything: three straight championships from 1975 to 1977 and then six consecutive titles between 1988 and 1993, an absolute record of Singaporean football, with doubles in 1990 and 1991 and Fandi Ahmad, the king of the local game, wearing the armband. When the S.League was born in 1996, the script held: first champions of the professional era, double included, and another title in 2001 with 84 goals scored. Along the way, even Michel Platini wore the Eagles' shirt, half a match on a visit to Singapore that entered club legend. Today the club plays at Our Tampines Hub, with two golden stars above the eagle on the crest and the same old battle cry: geylang boleh, Geylang can. The first name in the history of Singaporean professional football is still this one.
