Real Betis Balompié 2016/17 Special Shirt

One of the rarest shirts in recent Betis history, and the only hooped one from an eternally vertical club. To celebrate the 2017 Día de Andalucía, Adidas turned the Béticos’ shirt into the Andalusian flag itself: green and white horizontal bands, the crest embroidered in gold and the region’s flag printed on the back, in a limited edition premiered against Málaga on 26 February 2017 at the Villamarín. The design closed a century old circle: the press immediately compared it to Celtic of Glasgow, precisely the club from which Manuel Ramos Asencio brought the green and white shirts that baptised Betis in the early twentieth century. From Scotland to Seville and from Seville to the flag of Andalusia, all in one piece. The fan printing on the back is a footnote on a shirt that needs no names: here the protagonist is the land itself. Andalucía late en verde.
