About the brand

Joma was born from the hands of a teenager with no workshop. Fructuoso López was 18 when, in 1965, in Portillo de Toledo, he began making shoes by hand at home, with no capital and no premises, and named the business after the first syllables of his eldest son's name, José Manuel, Joma. In 1968 he moved into sports footwear, and the climb went factory by factory: 500 square metres in 1968, a second unit in the 1980s, and in 1988 the current 65,000 square metre headquarters, still in Portillo. Football arrived in earnest in 1987, with the professional boot and the first sponsorships of Martín Vázquez of Real Madrid and Sevilla players; in 1992 Joma became Spain's leading football boot brand, ahead of Adidas and Nike, and that same year Barcelona won Olympic gold in Barcelona wearing Joma. Today, still run by the López family, with the children managing accounts, textiles, footwear and marketing, Joma dresses over 300 professional teams in more than 100 countries, from Sevilla to Valencia, from Costa Rica to the Italian Group C where Monopoli played in 2009/10. From a house in Toledo to half the world, without ever leaving the family.
